Student Displays Program

The UC Irvine Libraries Student Displays program shares the work and creativity of UC Irvine students with the UC Irvine community. Temporary displays in the Langson and Science Libraries, created by students, can include original student art, writing, research, and more in both physical and digital formats. 

Current and Upcoming Displays

Student displays are open to the public, at no cost, during regular library hours.

  • Faultline Journal of Art & Literature This interactive display traces the thematic and aesthetic range of Faultine’s publishing history, through fine-art print displays, excerpts of prose and short fiction, and the interactive exhibit “Poem Fortunes from Faultlines Past.” April–May 2026 | Langson Library lobby series of covers of faultline journals

Display Proposals

Proposals are welcome from UC Irvine students, student organizations, faculty, and staff. Installation support and display equipment available upon request.

  • Reverberations: How Ngũgĩ Lives on Through UCI students Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o was one of the most influential voices in African and world literature. He was also professor of Comparative Literature and English at UC Irvine from 2002 to 2024 as well as the founding director of UC Irvine's International Center for Writing and Translation.   • Echolalia, Undergraduate Literary Journal Echolalia is a student-run undergraduate literary journal at UC Irvine established in 2023 with the goal of building community and compiling student stories. They accept a variety of creative works, with most being prose or poetry, based on their current volume’s theme.   • Undergraduate Fellowship in the Digital Humanities (UDHF) 2025 Showcase The 2025 cohort of undergraduate fellows participated in a four-week Digital Humanities Accelerator program, learning about digital humanities research methods, plus independent research time during fall quarter to prototype their own projects.   • The Art of Science "The Art of Science" student display features artwork, stories, and poems by UC Irvine students. This display celebrates creativity within the sciences and highlights the intersections between art, medicine, and human experience.   • Ocean Legacies: Wearable Art Creating Ocean Legacies showcases the process of how wearable art is conceived and constructed, detailing every steps from the initial concept to the moment a design is presented to the public. April–June 2025 | Langson Library Lobby | Photos DSC03300
  • Second Chance Month In honor of Second Chance Month in April 2025, this student display provides a platform for students to express themselves through creative writing, music, poetry, painting, and other artistic mediums. This display is dedicated to fighting stigma and empowering individuals to reclaim their narratives, highlighting the power of self-expression in shaping one’s own journey.
