About the curators

Nicole Arnold

Nicole Arnold is the Research Librarian for History, Classics, German, and Student Success at UC Irvine Libraries. She obtained her Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Washington, Seattle. Prior to receiving her MLIS, she earned an MA and BA in history, plus a single subject teaching credential focusing on Social Sciences, all from California State University, Fullerton. Her publications and presentations have focused on mentoring Dream Center Fellows, library outreach initiatives, Open Educational Resources, and textbook affordability. Stephen Anderson

Stephen Anderson is the exhibits coordinator at UC Irvine Libraries. An internationally exhibiting artist, he previously served as the executive director of the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art (OCCCA) and as the exhibits and education coordinator at the OC Fair & Event Center. He has designed and organized numerous exhibitions, particularly within the downtown Santa Ana art scene. Stephen holds a BFA from California State University, Long Beach. Cheryl Baltes

Cheryl Baltes

Cheryl Baltes is the director of communications at UC Irvine Libraries, where she heads library communications and special events and co-leads the student display and exhibits programs. She has more than 20 years of writing and editing experience in fields from computer science and engineering to history, digital marketing, and education. Prior to joining UC Irvine, she was the director of business operations for Shores Editorial Services and the managing editor of IEEE Computer Graphics & Applications and IEEE Annals of the History of Computing. Cheryl holds a BA in English literature from UC Riverside and an MA in English literature from Chapman University. Contact her at cbaltes@uci.edu.

 

Cynthia Johnson

Cynthia Johnson

Cynthia Johnson is the former head of Reference, head of the Grunigen Medical Library, and chair of the exhibits program at UC Irvine Libraries, where she managed reference services and oversaw the Grunigen Medical Library. Before coming to UC Irvine, she worked at the Pratt Institute Library in Brooklyn and the Barnard College Library in New York. Cynthia has a BA in art history from UC San Diego, an MA in art history from Boston University, and an MS in library services from Columbia University. She has more than 30 years of experience in academic libraries.

Jennifer Stout

Jennifer Stout is a communications and events coordinator for the UC Irvine Libraries, where she supports library communications, special events, and the exhibits and student displays programs. In prior roles, she has worked as a director, project manager, writer, and editor for publishers and universities, including Shores Editorial Services, Dragonfly Editorial Services, Manning Publications, IEEE Computer Society, and Cengage Learning as well as in a contract position for the University of California Office of the President.
