Antoinette Avila
Antoinette Avila is the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP)
documents coordinator for UC Irvine Libraries. As coordinator, she
helps ensure that government documents are available to all library
users and that the library remains compliant with FDLP policies. As
the library assistant supervisor in the Reference Department,
Antoinette also provides reference and research support. She earned
her bachelor's degree from California State University, Fullerton,
and her master’s degree in library and information science from San

Monica Gomez
Monica Gomez was a film and media studies and literary journalism
double major at UC Irvine and a former UC Irvine Libraries Communications
& Events student assistant. Monica’s favorite part of working on
this exhibit was exploring digital archives through some of her
favorite activities: internet searching and reading. The year Monica
spent with UC Irvine Libraries, she gained creativity and learned how to
turn writing from a hobby into a profession.
Kat Hansell
Kat Hansell was a drama major at UC Irvine who worked for the
Langson Library's Reference Department as a reference student
assistant for one and a half years. Kat transferred into UCI in 2022
and immediately started working as a stage manager for various UC
Irvine productions, including You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown,
Shakespeare's As You Like It, and The Brothers Paranormal. Having
volunteered at various libraries for more than eight years before
attending UCI, they have a special interest in library sciences.
Kane Hong
Kane Hong is a political science and English double major at UC
Irvine with a digital filmmaking minor. He is also a reference
student assistant in the UC Irvine Libraries Reference Department. A
writer, journalist, and filmmaker, Kane is committed to pursuing all
forms of storytelling. Having produced short stories, political
articles, and documentaries, he strives to shed light on
underrepresented communities. He is also the former editor in chief
of Echolalia, a UCI student-run literary magazine.
Baly Martinez
Baly Martinez is a software engineering and computer science double
major at UC Irvine. She enjoys participating in hackathons led by
Hack at UCI and Women in Information and Computer Sciences (WICS).
As a student assistant, Baly has worked at the Langson and Science
Libraries, supporting Reference, Library Administration, and the
Multimedia Resources Center. She enjoys interacting with patrons and
helping them navigate the vast resources available.
